THE BIRTH OF PHILOSOPHY SCIENCE

AND WESTERN CULTURE

A radical idea that fails to resonate in the culture where it originated fades quickly away, it is soon forgotten.  A radical idea that captures the imaginations of the people will flourish and grow.  One radical idea, perhaps the most important new concept to appear in the world of its time, caught the fever of the people, Born 2600 years ago among Ionian Greeks on the coast of present day turkey, it spread like a wildfire across the Greek world to Italy and laid the groundwork for the culture that developed Jet planes, Atomic Bombs, Democracy, and a rational God.  This is the radical idea that the world is a rational place and man, the rational animal, could understand it.  So we begin our story in the Greek settlements along the Ionian coast.
